In fact, we find this step is especially helpful when treating patients with lower back pain caused by sitting all day with poor posture.

One reason sitting all day may cause lower back pain

There are several reasons sitting at a desk all day may cause lower back pain. One reason many of our patients get lower back pain from this is because they’re sitting with poor posture.

Posture is defined as the position in which you hold your body while sitting or standing. Sitting all day may cause you to develop poor sitting posture over time. If you’re not sure if you have poor posture, there are several signs you can look for that signal a need for improvement.

For one thing, people with poor sitting posture often poke or extend their chins forward. They may also hunch their shoulders while they sit. Sitting with the knees higher than the hips can also lead to posture issues. Finally, allowing the back to form a “C” shape while you’re sitting down is a posture issue that can directly lead to lower back pain.

To help you overcome these and other issues with your sitting posture, our Continuum Wellness team can build you a personalized therapy plan. A personalized therapy plan may help you improve your sitting posture with:

  • Therapeutic stretches
  • Core muscle strengthening exercises
  • Ergonomic recommendations

Is sitting all day causing you to have lower back pain? Our team at Continuum Wellness is here to help you treat the poor posture that may be causing your pain. However, you will need to take one step before we can help you.
